WitnessAI, the Mountain View–headquartered AI security and governance startup, has closed a strategic funding round of $58 million, strengthening its push to secure enterprise AI deployments at scale. The fresh capital arrives as global organizations race to adopt AI models and agents while tightening security, compliance, and governance controls.
WitnessAI has secured $58 million in strategic funding to build out its unified AI security and governance platform for large enterprises. The company, based in Mountain View, California, focuses on protecting how employees, applications, models, and autonomous agents interact with AI systems across complex enterprise environments.
The financing underscores the growing demand for specialized AI security solutions that can keep pace with rapid adoption of generative AI, copilots, and agentic workflows inside regulated and data-sensitive organizations.
The round is led by Sound Ventures, the Los Angeles–based venture capital firm co-founded by Ashton Kutcher, which manages more than $1 billion in assets and has previously backed high-profile AI and cybersecurity leaders. Sound Ventures invests in early- and growth-stage technology companies with a focus on artificial intelligence, enterprise software, fintech, consumer technology, and foundational platforms.
Additional participation in WitnessAI’s latest round comes from Fin Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Ventures, and Forgepoint Capital Partners, bringing together deep expertise across financial services, semiconductors, enterprise infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
WitnessAI intends to deploy the newly raised $58 million to scale its global operations and deepen coverage across major enterprise markets. The company will accelerate product development, with a particular emphasis on expanding its agentic AI security and governance capabilities to cover AI agents alongside traditional LLM-based applications.
The funding will also support WitnessAI’s go-to-market expansion, enabling the company to partner with more large enterprises that are standardizing on AI-driven workflows but require strong guardrails, observability, and policy enforcement before rolling them out company-wide.
WitnessAI offers a unified AI security and governance platform built specifically for enterprise environments, designed to operate as a confidence layer for AI adoption. The platform provides network-level visibility into every AI interaction, spanning employees, applications, models, and autonomous agents, even inside native applications where legacy security tools typically lack insight.
By understanding the intent behind prompts and actions rather than relying solely on static keywords, WitnessAI enables intelligent policy enforcement that can block advanced threats such as prompt injection, malicious multi-turn interactions, and unsafe data access while still preserving productivity for business users. This behavioral, intent-based approach allows enterprises to apply consistent governance controls across both human and agentic workforces, reducing the risk that AI will become a blind spot in their security posture.
